Salon seeking young entrepreneurs
Uptown Roots Salon in Excelsior Springs is looking for youth in the area who have started up businesses.
Owner Erica Todd-Burton says she believes that children can be entrepreneurs too, and she wants to help them pursue their business dreams by hosting pop-up markets featuring their products.
Recently, Uptown held its first Young Entrepreneur Pop-Up Market, featuring Emma Schultz, an ambitious 12-yearold who began her journey by making bracelets just for fun during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Friends and family began noticing the bracelets and they started requesting customized bracelets,” said Schultz. “I now sell bracelets to family, friends and several people in the community.”
Todd-Burton mentioned that the pop-up market was a huge success and over $300 worth of bracelets were sold.
“She left some inventory with me, and the bracelets are still selling, days later. I’m proud of her; she did so well.”
Young entrepreneurs of all ages are encouraged to contact Todd…
