Club bowlers roll up fifth-place finish
Excelsior Springs High School’s club bowling team is back on the lanes.
With members who include Olivia Smith, Quinlynn Davis, Brian Meek, Kylor Meek, Brody Hurla and Brighton Hibschle, the team has competed in three tournaments this season, placing fifth twice and sixth once. The club’s most recent tournament was held Nov. 12 at Tiger Bowl in Excelsior Springs. Excelsior Springs finished fifth among 16 schools, going 8-3.
Excelsior Springs won its first seven matches. The club defeated Lee’s Summit in a tussle of teams nicknamed the Tigers 169-138. After that, Excelsior Springs edged Liberty 145-143, cruised past Independence-based Van Horn 189-134, crushed Kansas City-based Staley 213-139, defeated Raymore-Peculiar 165149, downed Blue Springs 174-150 and handled Independence-based Fort Osage 211-184.
The local bowlers then lost three straight. First, they fell 167-154 to Park Hill, a Kansas Citybased school. St. Joseph Central handed them their next defeat, 201-146. Lee’s Summit…
