ES 1-1 in first week of varsity girls soccer season
Excelsior Springs broke even for the first week of varsity girls soccer.
The Tigers went 1-1, falling 2-1 to Mid-Buchanan March 21and downing Raytown 3-0 March 23. Both meetings were at Tiger Stadium.
In the Mid-Buchanan loss, “both teams had about the same number of chances, but Mid-Buch just finished more of them,” coach Zac Ganzer said.
“I am very impressed with the start
from our girls,” Ganzer added.
Junior Abby Rash scored Excelsior Springs’ lone goal. Fellow junior Bailey Carder provided the assist.
Senior Khilee Costello scored the opening goal against Raytown. Rash followed that by finishing a penalty kick. Carder provided the final goal.
Junior Allison Armstrong and sophomore Brooklyn Sharp combined for the shutout in goal.
“The girls executed well and they keep getting better every day and their efforts were rewarded today,” Ganzer said.
