ES boys netters go 2-1 on the road
Finally, the Excelsior Springs varsity boys tennis team gets to stay home for a while.
As of this writing, the Tigers were slated to begin a slate of six home duals and a home tournament, starting with Tuesday’s meeting with Harrisonville. They entered the extended homestand after going 2-1 on the road.
The road trip included two duals to close last month – a 5-4 victory March 27 over Lafayette County of Higginsville and a 6-3 loss March 30 to St. Joseph Central.
Lafayette County jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the doubles matches, with the Excelsior Springs duo of Carter Pitts and Colby Mueller falling 8-4 in the No. 1 spot. In other duals results, senior Lee Mueller and sophomore Austin Collins cruised 8-1 in the second spot, and seniors Matthew Rebello and Ethan Sams fell in the No. 3 slot 8-5.
The Huskers pulled ahead in No. 1 singles, when Pitts dropped a seesaw match 8-6. Lee Mueller answered with an 8-6 win in the No. 2 slot.
