ES netters crush Eagles, fall to Northmen
The Excelsior Springs boys tennis program had two reasons to celebrate on May 1.
First, the Tigers crushed visiting Ruskin 9-0 in Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division action. Then, they honored their seniors.
“This has been a very special group of senior tennis players, and they finished off their home season in a great way,” coach Richie Marsh said.
Seniors Carter Pitts and Colby Mueller helped Excelsior Springs claim the win by cruising to an 8-1 victory in No. 1 doubles. Another senior, Lee Mueller, teamed up with sophomore Austin Collins to win the No. 2 doubles match 8-0. Seniors Matthew Rebello and Ethan Sams took the No. 3 match 8-2.
In singles results, Pitts took the No. 1 match 8-0. Lee Mueller claimed the No. 2 match 8-2. Collins cruised 8-0 in the third spot. Colby Mueller won 8-1 in the fourth position. Rebello won the No. 5 match 8-2. Sams cruised 8-0 in the sixth spot.
The Senior Night rout preceded a 5-4 loss on May 2 to Oak Park on the road. In…
