ES secures third straight semis appearance
HARRISONVILLE – The Excelsior Springs varsity boys soccer team has made school history again.
With a 3-1 Nov. 11 road victory over Harrisonville in the Class 2 state quarterfinals, the Tigers secured their third straight semifinals appearance – the first time an Excelsior Springs boys or girls soccer program has appeared in three consecutive semifinals. The achievement followed a third straight district title, also a first for either program, which the Excelsior Springs boys claimed Nov. 1 at Tiger Stadium.
Excelsior Springs (14-5) is slated to face Westminster Christian Academy (19-5), a St. Louis metro area school, at 2:30 p.m. Friday on Field 2 at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton. The winner will play the winner between Orchard Farm and Logan-Rogersville for the state title at 4 p.m. Saturday, with the losers of the semifinals playing for third place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
