Graduation 2014: Seniors celebrate accomplishments, say farewell

The Excelsior Springs High School 2014 commencement ceremony brought lots of smiles, congratulatory hugs and more than a few tears as the seniors gathered in one group for the last time.

Yuchen Peng and Nicholas Masoner were named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, topping off the list of the 20 graduates with the highest grade point averages. In addition to performances by the Symphonic Band (“Towards a New Horizon,” by Steven Reineke) and the Senior Singers (“Bridge Over Troubled Water,” by Paul Simon and arranged by Kirby Shaw), speakers included a welcome by student council president Natasha Martinez, an address by senior speaker Sarah Server, a message from faculty speaker Jeff Meyer and closing remarks by senior class president Cole Sales.
