Police body cameras and upgraded dash cameras will become part of everyday operations in Excelsior Springs as new equipment purchases and related law enforcement actions move forward.During a recent meeting, city council members authorized a fiveyear service agreement with Axon Enterprise Inc. for body-worn and in-car camera systems for the Excelsior Springs Police Department (ESPD). Under the agreement, the department will acquire 10 body cameras and eight dash cameras. The cost of the deal is $26,684.32 for the first year, with annual costs of $26,909.32 for years two through five, for a total contract cost of $134,321.60 over the five-year term.The agreement includes camera equipment and associated services required to operate the systems, including digital video storage and evidence management.
