Excelsior Springs Police Chief Gregory Dull believes increasing the number of females in law enforcement is important. However, he does not plan to sign the 30x30 pledge recently approved by Ray County Sheriff Will Akin. The 30x30 pledge is intended to increase the representation of women in law enforcement. Of the 25 sworn officers Dull is authorized to have, only 21 percent are females. “Generally speaking, I do think it is important to increase the presence of women in law enforcement,” Dull said. “I believe they bring an important and much needed perspective, and they simply make law enforcement organizations stronger and better,” Dull said. Three female police officers have been hired during Dull’s 15 months as police chief, and the chief says he has extended an offer to send a female candidate to the police academy.
