Elliott awaits sentencing for shooting death
A Kansas City man awaits sentencing in the shooting death of Excelsior Springs resident Trint Phillips.
According to KCTV (Channel 5), jurors have recommended 67 years in prison for Blade E. Elliott, 22, who was charged in 2020 with murdering Phillips and was recently found guilty. Those charges and the jurors’ recommendations are second-degree murder, 30 years; armed criminal action-first offense, 20 years; attempted first-degree robbery, 10 years; armed criminal action-second offense, seven years.
Public records indicate Elliott was arrested by KCPD officers, who responded at 5:20 p.m. on June 8, 2020, to the report of a shooting at a Price Chopper at 9717 N.Ash Ave. As this newspaper reported, Phillips was found dead from gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a black, 2007 Kia Spectra.
