ES man pleads not guilty, burglary

A local man recently made his first court appearance following his arrest for an alleged Excelsior Springs burglary.

Brian E. Grayson, 49, was charged with one felony, including second-degree burglary and one misdemeanor of stealing.

Grayson entered a plea of not guilty before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Karen L. Krauser.

The judge accepted the plea and informed Grayson of his right to apply for a public defender.

Grayson also appeared for a bond reduction hearing yesterday, but information was not made available as of press time.

On Dec. 14, 2024, Excelsior Springs Police Department officers responded to a residence in Excelsior Springs regarding a burglary.

The property owner stated he owns a vacant house next door to his residence, which he uses for storage, according to the report. He said he heard his dog barking, went outside to investigate and saw a Black male holding his TV and sewing machine.
