Local women recognized during Women’s History Month
Clay County celebrates Women’s History Month by recognizing local women. Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in the U.S. in the month of March in since 1987.
Through a recent Excelsior Springs Standard questionnaire, residents could submit the name of their “shero” along with the reason they were chosen.
The two local women that were nominated were K9Clips Staffer Christina McCoy and Salon Blush LLC Owner and nail technician Octavia Baker.
To be nominated – these women had to have touched the hearts of local people. Nominators remain anonymous.
McCoy was described as strong, independent and caring by her nominator.
Baker was described as genuine, loving and encouraging.
