Clay County deputies investigated a potential explosive device on streets Gano and Water in Missouri City around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday that was determined as explosive. The sheriff’s office detectives were following up on a local man’s reports of possible explosives placed in the resident’s yard. The resident told the detectives he would put a possible explosive he had found in a box inside his home; he brought the box outside and placed it adjacent to railroad tracks. Deputies evacuated the surrounding area and requested the Kansas City Missouri Police Department’s Bomb and Arson Unit. The county deputies also ordered the temporary closure of the railroad tracks. KCPD’s Bomb Squad discovered the box did not contain an explosive device and the resident said he must have grabbed the wrong box.
