Partnership aims to bring Clay County history to life

A new partnership aims to bring Clay County history to life for hundreds of college students and community members.

Clay County commissioners recently approved a cooperative agreement with Metropolitan Community College (MCC)-Maple Woods to support a Missouri Humanities grant application for Turning Points in Clay County, Missouri History, a project designed to connect students and residents with local history through classroom instruction, public programming and visits to historic sites.

According to the agreement, MCC-Maple Woods will serve as the lead applicant and fiscal agent for the proposed $10,000 Missouri Humanities grant, while Clay County will provide in-kind support through staff time, access to historic sites, educational programming and administrative assistance. The county will also waive admission fees for participating MCC students during approved educational field trips.
