Uptown Roots Salon in Excelsior Springs is looking for youth in the area who have started up businesses. Owner Erica Todd-Burton says she believes that children can be entrepreneurs too, and she wants to help them pursue their business dreams by hosting pop-up markets featuring their products. Recently, Uptown held its first Young Entrepreneur Pop-Up Market, featuring Emma Schultz, an ambitious 12-yearold who began her journey by making bracelets just for fun during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Friends and family began noticing the bracelets and they started requesting customized bracelets,” said Schultz. “I now sell bracelets to family, friends and several people in the community.” Todd-Burton mentioned that the pop-up market was a huge success and over $300 worth of bracelets were sold. “She left some inventory with me, and the bracelets are still selling, days later.
