An Excelsior Springs shooting at a residence near North Main and Grand Wednesday morning left one resident dead and another in critical condition.

Excelsior Springs Police responded to the scene around 12:11 a.m. on Sept. 7 after a 911 call reported a shooting. Police found two subjects, one adult female, one adult male, with gunshot wounds on the front porch of the residence. The victims were taken to an area hospital. The female victim died around 12:35 a.m., and the male victim is in critical condition as of presstime Sept. 8.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department in Floydada, TX, has 48-year-old, Keith Bass II, in custody, who confessed to the murder and was arrested around 1 p.m. on Sept. 7. “Bass will be extradited back,” to Excelsior Springs, where the investigation will continue, said Floyd County Sheriff Paul Raissez.

“We are following up on some good leads,” said the Excelsior Springs Police Department’s Chief
