School board OKs IT contracts

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs School District will continue to have internet service. On Jan. 11, the Board of Education approved two, five-year, IT service contracts: a wide-area contract with United Private Networks in Kansas City and an internet access contract with Mediacom, a phone/cable/ internet provider headquartered in New York whose service areas include Excelsior Springs and Richmond. District Director of Technology Lynette Procopio told the board the wide-area contract ensures all of the district’s facilities are linked. The internet access contract ensures “backup to internet access,” Procopio told district leaders.
