EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Eight Excelsior Springs wrestlers entered the Class 2 Sectional 4 Tournament Feb. 27 at Excelsior Springs High School with aspirations of making it to the Class 2 state tournament. Four of them fulfilled their aspirations. Senior Damon Ashworth, and juniors Ayden Dolt and Landen Davis advance by claiming sectional championships. Freshman Micah Danner also qualified by finishing third. The four Tigers will compete in the state tournament March 10 at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence. Davis secured his spot by going 3-0 in the 126-pound division. He opened by pinning Odessa’s Dayton Carpenter in 13 seconds. His second match took a bit longer, as he pinned St. Joseph Lafayette’s Marco Dalakishivili in 1:56.
