EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Diggers Discount Store, 1218 N. Jesse James Road, Excelsior Springs, reopened Saturday. Customers Ashlyn Calvert and Gail Calvert browsed among dozens of plastic bins, about the height and shape of kitchen tables, that contained an eclectic collection of new items for sale. The wide range ran from a unicorn blanket to cutting boards, with a few of the many items in between including technologyrelated devices, vitamins, costume jewelry and clothes. The store had been closed for a while, and most of the types of items people expect to find at Diggers returned for the reopening, but shoppers found unexpected items, too. “The thing that’s different are there are big items,” Gail Calvert said. “Other than that, everything’s the same.” A few of the new items included window air conditioning units and furniture, which are not guaranteed to remain in stock.
