Excelsior Springs approves bids for two water meters, water pump

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The city is tweaking the water system. On July 19, the City Council approved Blue Springs-based Core & Main’s $18,990 bid to switch out two 10-inch meters at the water treatment plant. In use since 1975, the meters measure “the amount of water heading into town,” Public Works Director Chad Birdsong stated in a July 13 memo to city leaders. “(We) had a problem with those last year and going into this year with the SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) connection, and we’ve had companies come out to work on them. … They don’t make the parts to replace them anymore,” Birdsong said.
