EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs High School Competitive Acting and Speech Team took the Lexington Invitational sweepstakes award.

Nine schools competed. Events and how students placed follow:

• Isabella Selby and Annalise Selby placed first in duo acting;

• Jason Besherse, first, oratory;

• Elijah Thomas, first, humorous acting;

• Naomi Beissenherz, first, champ prose, and second, dramatic acting;

• Brody Hurla, first, radio speaking;

• Brody Hurla and Tonya Sportsman, second, duet acting;

• Ryan Dodd, third, dramatic acting, and second, champ poetry;

• Jenna Hall, second, champ prose, and fifth, dramatic acting;

• Emily Rice, third, regular prose, and fourth, radio speaking;

• CeeJay Hardesty, third, champ poetry;

• Sean Dimes, third, extemporaneous speaking;

• Isabella Selby and Sean Dimes, third, improvisational duet acting;

• Tonya Sportsman, fourth, dramatic acting;

• Jena Redmon, sixth, dramatic acting, and fourth, regular prose;

• Brody Hurla and Jason Besherse, fifth, improv duet acting; and

• Elijiah Thomas and Isaiah Bruley, fourth, improv duet acting.
