Tigers produce 10 top-five finishes at Mineral Water Classic
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Overall, the Tigers “had a great day” in varsity track and field April 22 at the Mineral Water Classic, coach Jonah Albertson said.
“With the 20-plus mile-per-hour wind we had, we didn’t expect too many personal records, but we still came away with 13 on the day,” Albertson said.
Excelsior Springs also produced 10 top-five finishes that day at Tiger Stadium. The top four finishers in each event received medals, Albertson said.
Sophomore Mason Wartner was the Tigers’ lone event-winner, taking first in the boys 1,600-meter run in 5 minutes, 00.99 second. Senior Tyler Rumore finished fifth in that race in 5:07.69. Rumore also took fourth in the 3,200 in 11:07.69.
