Edwards finishes ESHS golfing career at state
NEW BLOOMFIELD – An era ended last week for Excelsior Springs boys golf.
Senior Ethan Edwards finished his high school career May 16-17 at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in the Class 4 state tournament – his second straight appearance in a state tournament. Edwards shot a 166 overall to place in an eight-way tie for 43rd out of 83 finishers.
“The fairways were very tight and the bunker placements were very challenging here,” Edwards said. “Overall, I felt as I played pretty … (well) and I am satisfied with my performance and career in general.”
Edwards opened with a double bogey, but he bounced back on his next hole with a birdie. He bogeyed his third hole and then birdied hole No. 4 on his way to a 39 on the front nine. He shot a 42 for the back nine to finish with an 81 (+9) and was tied for 39th.
Edwards shot an 85 (+13) the second day.
