Elsie Marie Tackett, 92, of Excelsior Springs, MO passed away on June 28, 2022.  

Ms. Tackett was born on June 17, 1930, in South Dakota. Elsie enjoyed gardening and especially loved her irises and was skilled in hand embroidery. She loved eating healthy and would walk two miles every day. While on her walks she would pick up trash around her neighborhood as she took pride in where she lived and wanted it to stay beautiful. When she would sit down for dinner her dog, Mutley, would sit at her feet and beg for table scraps. He enjoyed her meals so much he took a liking to lettuce and other vegetables.  

Elsie has been an Excelsior Springs resident since 1956. During that time, she worked at Avsco in Excelsior Springs, where she retired from, and worked diligently to provide for her six children of which she raised herself.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nettie Hirbeck and Charles Hirbeck, and brother, Sam Hirbeck, all from Oregon.  

Survivors include Kathy (Don, deceased) Peery, Marvin (Mary) Tackett, Lori (Gary) Marrant, Murl Tackett (Becky), Myron Tackett (Sandy), and Marty Tackett (Lisa), and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held from 1 – 2 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2022, at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2022, following the visitation.
