Council approves Westside CID

The Excelsior Springs City Council approved the creation of Westside Community Improvement District (CID) during its Tuesday meeting. Community residents and westside district property owners were in the audience to show support. “If approved, it is a funding mechanism to match grant dollars for the $21.5 million for the Rebuilding America’s Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program grant,” said Economic Development Director Melinda Mehaffy. Jennifer Baird, an attorney with Lauber Municipal Law, who was hired to assist with the establishment of the CID, explained details of the CID. She said through working with CIDs in the past, the council understands the results are improvements and funding for the city.
