ES golfers take second at ’Tonka triangular
Jacob Schmidt and his Excelsior Springs varsity boys golf teammates fought through the elements when they played in an April 13 triangular hosted by Winnetonka at Hodge Park Golf Club in Kansas City.
Schmidt managed the weather well enough to place second overall with a nine-hole round of 41. The junior helped the Tigers shoot a combined 190 and finish second. Raymore-Peculiar placed first with a 159. Winnetonka shot a 204.
In other Excelsior Springs results, senior Ryan Gluhm shot a 48, junior Gage Simmons shot a 49, and sophomores Landon Biermann and Tayvion Kennedy each shot a 52.
“Considering the wind and cold, we played well,” coach David Stalder said. “Jacob’s short game has been keeping his scores low and that is promising.”
