Baldridge, Matthews vie to lead Tigers on the golf links
Excelsior Springs girls golf teammates Kylee Baldridge and Addi Matthews are locked in a competition, according to coach David Stalder.
Stalder sees Baldridge, a senior; and Matthews, a junior, as the two candidates to be the team’s No. 1 golfer.
“Kylie and Addi are in a battle right now, and those two may change weekly, depending on how they play,” he said.
Baldridge is among four seniors and six Tigers overall who will call the Excelsior Springs Golf Course their home turf. Tanya Hlady-Bly, Addison Jackson and Zoey Rogers, all returning, round out the group of seniors. Matthews and fellow junior Natalinn Moore complete the team lineup.
Because golf is a challenging game that requires stamina and composure, Stalder expects his six Tigers to have to fight through some tough moments. The key to doing so is moving on from shot to shot and having a short-term memory during play, he said.
