Happy takes title at Lathrop; girls grapplers win opener
Analese Happy started her high school wrestling career as a champion.
The Excelsior Springs freshman took the 110-pound title at the Lathrop Girls Turkey Break Tournament, going 2-0 at the Nov. 21 competition.
Happy was among five top-three finishers for the Tigers. Sophomore Kaylnn Betts went 2-1 to finish second at 170. Senior Jaylenn Hudlemeyer went 1-1 and took second at 125. Wrestling at 190, sophomore Adrien Crawley also went 1-1 and took second. Pyper Layton, a first-year high schooler, went 1-1 and placed second. Junior Lauren Park went 1-1 and placed third.
OPENING DUAL
After the Lathrop competition, the Excelsior Springs girls won their opening dual, cruising to a 48-24 win Nov. 29 over visiting St. Joseph Central.
