Numerous situations can lead to feelings of guilt and regret as a parent.
Recently, I have been grappling with a particular event that has evoked deep feelings of sadness and contemplation in my role as a mother.
At her father’s house, my five-yearold daughter, Aurora, was gleefully engaged in play with her cousins when an unfortunate mishap led to a fracture in her arm. She is presently wearing a splint and her arm is being supported by a sling. We are awaiting news this week to determine if she will require a cast for her recovery.
Despite the clear evidence that it was an accident, the co-parenting situation became challenging when her father didn’t believe her injury warranted a hospital visit. However, as soon as I saw her during the custody exchange, it was evident to me that she urgently needed medical attention.
