Prathersville man accepts plea agreement

A Prathersville man has entered a guilty plea after the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office reached a plea agreement.Mason L. Shearer, 19, was initially facing one felony charge of resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony. Recently, he appeared before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Karen L. Krauser where he pled guilty to an amended charge. The charge was amended to a class A misdemeanor of resisting or interfering with an arrest, detention or stop. Krauser sentenced him to 60 days in the Clay County Detention Center but credited him with time served.On June 23, Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on H Highway to serve felony warrants.“Deputies contacted the homeowner who provided consent to enter her residence as well as the location of Shearer,”the probable cause statement reads. “Deputies located Shearer in an upstairs bedroom where he was taken into custo...
