For their first competition this season, Excelsior Springs’ cross country runners had a choice: They could run a 3.1-mile race or a 2-mile race.The Tigers were given that option at the Tom Nixon Invitational, held Aug. 31 at the Capitol Federal Sports Complex in Liberty. They had four runners compete in the 3.1-mile race in the Silver Division – one girl and three boys.Junior Kirsten Stout represented the Excelsior Springs girls, finishing 27th in 22 minutes, 52 seconds. Junior Liam Hedding led the boys, placing 36th in 19:13.7.
