A second victory this season in varsity 11-man football was within reach of Excelsior Springs.Excelsior Springs led Raytown 7-0 at halftime when the schools met Sept. 20 in Raytown. And the teams were knotted 1313 in the fourth quarter.But then, the Blue Jays scored on a late 35-yard TD pass to hand the Tigers a 1913 defeat. The loss put Excelsior Springs at 1-3 overall entering Friday’s Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division meeting with visiting Smithville (3-1).Senior Dawson Claypole gave the Tigers the lead on the opening possession, scoring on a 1-yard TD run to cap a 14-play drive. Senior Carson Gholson’s extra-point kick made it 7-0.The Blue Jays (2-2) tied it with a 2-yard TD run and point after in the third quarter.Raytown went up 13-7 later in the third quarter on a 60-yard TD pass.
