ES volleyballers get second victory by edging Lexington
Excelsior Springs has its second win of the varsity volleyball season.After losing to Smithville 3-0 Sept. 16 and Maryville 3-1 Sept. 17, the Tigers edged Lexington 3-2 Sept. 19. The victory put the girls at 2-11-1 entering this week’s matches.The Tigers dropped their three sets to visiting Smithville 25-12, 25-18 and 25-23.Offensively, junior Jordin Price and sophomore Bayli Crowley powered Excelsior Springs with five kills each. Junior Maya Watkins led the defensive side with 19 digs, followed by Price with 15 and junior Lillah Shue with 12.Excelsior Springs dropped its first two sets to visiting Maryville (25-18, 25-8). The Tigers bounced back with a 25-11 third-set win. The Spoofhounds won the final set of the best-of-five match 25-11.Price led the offense with seven kills.
