Patricia Shemwell Patricia “Patty” Ann McNellis Shemwell, 75, of Excelsior Springs passed away peacefully Nov. 10, 2024.

Patty was born March 14, 1949, in Kansas City to Patrick and Rita Mc-Nellis. She graduated from Glennon High School in the Northeast neighborhood. She was involved with St. Ann Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs and taught CCD classes for 30 years.

She enjoyed life and loved tending to her flower beds and taking care of her yard. She and Bob loved traveling together. Patty also loved entertaining family and friends during the holidays.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tim McNellis.

Patty is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dr. Robert Shemwell; brothers, Mike McNellis (Donna Foster), Ed (Vickie) McNellis and Vince (Penni) McNellis; and sister, Mary Kay (Bill) Sharp. Other survivors include her stepchildren, Denise Cates (David), Bobby Shemwell (Debbie) and Susan Franklin (Brent); 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be 5-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, with the rosary at 9:45, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs. A graveside service will follow the Mass at Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs.
