Excelsior Springs lost big and then won big in its two varsity boys wrestling duals last week.On Jan. 14, the Tigers tumbled to visiting Kearney 61-18. They rebounded Jan. 16 by crushing William Chrisman 65-6 in Independence.The Excelsior Springs boys were shorthanded in their Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division loss to Kearney, with senior Ryne Marcum and junior Cooper Collins sidelined. Still, the Tigers picked up three on-themat victories.Logan Bates, a first-year high schooler, got the first win, pinning Oliver Lee in the second period at 113 pounds. Junior Gaige Carr won his 150 match with a first-period pin of Kendahl Davis.
