ESExcelsior Springs varsity girls basketball coach JD Biermanii and his Tigers won’t have to leave town to start February.The girls, who have no games scheduled this week, will begin a three-game homestand Feb. 3 against Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division opponent Smithville. They enter the homestand after going 1-2 last week, losing 47-34 Jan. 21 to St. Joseph Central on the road, crushing Kansas City Southeast 5515 Jan. 23 at Excelsior Springs and getting bounced 5420 Jan. 24 on the road by Kearney in Blue Division play.Excelsior Springs tried to play catchup in the loss to St. Joe Central, as the Indians led 14-6 after one quarter and 24-17 at halftime. The Indians were up 13 (41-27) after three quarters.The Tigers edged the Indians 7-6 the final quarter.Turnovers hurt Excelsior Springs.
