Woman arrested for firing gun during domestic dispute

An Excelsior Springs woman has been granted a bond reduction after being arrested for allegedly discharging a firearm during a domestic violence altercation while children were present.

Brandi Brand,

47, is facing three felony charges, including firstdegree domestic assault; first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, creating substantial risk without sexual contact; and unlawful use of a weapon, discharging into a home, motor vehicle or other means of transportation.

Brand recently entered a not-guilty plea before Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Lori J. Baskins. Brand also requested a bond reduction, to which Baskins agreed to remove Brand from no bond status and lower the bond to $50,000 with the special condition of having a home plan in Kansas City.

As of press time, Brand is still in the custody of Ray County Jail. She will appear for a criminal setting hearing at 9:30 a.m. on March 25.
