An Excelsior Springs alum has become a three-time college All-American wrestler.DamonAshworth, a 2021 graduate and redshirt junior at the University of Central Missouri, secured his latest All-American honor by placing fourth in the 184-pound division recently at the NCAA Division II national tournament. He qualified for the competition by placing second in a Division II super regional tournament held March 1-2 in Warrensburg.Ashworth opened nationals by defeating Andrew Reed of Newberry (S.C.) College by a 12-5 decision. A loss by major decision to Glenville (W.Va.) State University’s Kyle Homet sent him to wrestlebacks.From there, Ashworth pinned Calan Staub of the University of North Olive (N.C.) in the first period, defeated Grand Valley State University’s Brayden Mirjavadi 4-1 and then defeated Augustana University’s Cade Mueller 6-3 in overtime to se...
