Biermann paces golfers in back-to-back contests

Landon Biermann led the way last week for Excelsior Springs in varsity boys golf.

The senior was the Tigers’ top finisher at two competitions – an April 14 tournament in Smithville, hosted by Oak Park; and an April 17 home dual with Winnetonka. He shot an 88 for his 18-hole round at the tournament to place 11th overall and a 40 to finish as the medalist in the Winnetonka dual.

Biermann’s 88 helped Excelsior Springs shoot a 363 and place 10th among 22 teams at the tournament. He was among three Tigers to place in the top 50, with sophomores Landon Cramer and Lane Overholtzer completing the group. Cramer shot a 90 to finish 42nd. Overholtzer shot a 91 and placed 46th.

Senior Tayvion Kennedy completed the team score with a 94, placing 58th overall. Sophomore Logan Green, Excelsior Springs’ No. 5 golfer, finished 75th and shot a 99.

With his medalwinning round, Biermann helped the Tigers defeat Winnetonka by 32 strokes. Green also contributed to the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue…
