A role meant to guide children in faith is now at the center of a criminal investigation after an associate youth pastor at Excelsior Springs Baptist Church was arrested on accusations of abusing that trust.Excelsior Springs resident Donald Aaron Axtell, 37, is facing two felony charges, including second-degree statutory rape and possession of child pornography. He is also charged with one misdemeanor count of furnishing or attempting to furnish pornographic material to a minor.Axtell recently appeared before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Karen Krauser for his initial arraignment, where the court ordered him to have no contact with the alleged victim.
