A POSSIBLE REPEATCoach Cody Beck and his Excelsior Springs varsity boys wrestling team are eyeing a repeat title at the Lee’s Summit Holiday Tournament.Excelsior Springs won the 2024 team title with 255 points – 6.5 points ahead of runner-up Lee’s Summit West. The boys are scheduled to wrestle in the 2025 version Friday and Saturday at Lee’s Summit High School.“I really like this tournament, as this is a good test of where we are at the first part of the season,” Beck stated Tuesday via email. “We get to see many teams that we will not get to see the rest of the year, and there is good competition for us at this tournament. This also gets us ready for a multiple-day weigh-in.”The squad’s return to Lee’s Summit follows a seasonand home-opening loss to Winnetonka Dec. 9 and a Dec. 10 quadrangular, hosted by Cameron.
