Fire department adds safety focus to MVP

The Excelsior Springs Fire Department (ESFD) is joining the Meals and a Visit Program to support homebound residents by adding a focus on home safety and prevention.The Meals and a Visit Program (MVP) is run through the Excelsior Springs Parks, Recreation and Community Center and supports homebound residents through home-delivered meals and regular visits. The program currently serves 19 residents and by joining the effort, ESFD will add home safety education and prevention services, building on the program’s goal of helping residents remain safe and supported in their homes.Deputy Fire Chief Camron White noted the fire department was contacted by Meals and a Visit Program staff to discuss whether firefighters could be involved in supporting residents enrolled in the program.“We were approached by Jesse Hall to see if the Fire Department would be interested in partnering in some way,” said White. “We immediately said yes...
