City Council appoints Mehaffey as city manager
A leadership transition is underway in Excelsior Springs following the selection of the next city manager.Council members recently appointed Melinda Mehaffey to the role, as longtime City Manager Molly McGovern prepares to retire.The appointment was approved through an ordinance authorizing Mehaffey’s employment agreement and members voted unanimously to approve the measure. Mehaffey will assume the position following a transition period working alongside Mc-Govern, whose final day with the city is March 3.Mehaffey has over two decades of experience in local government and has been with the City of Excelsior Springs for the last seven years.
