TERESA ELAINE THOMPSON
Teresa Elaine Thompson of Excelsior Springs was welcomed into her home in Heaven on Feb. 22, 2026. Born July 5, 1954, in Independence to John and Nina Walters, Teresa was raised with the values of faith and family that shaped the rest of her life. Teresa lived in Excelsior Springs, where she attended high school. On Nov. 25, 1972, she married Jerel Thompson. Together, they built a home rooted in love, laughter and devotion to Christ.
Above all, Teresa loved the Lord. She placed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and remained steadfast throughout life’s seasons.
She attended Prathersville Bible Church and served on the Worship Team. She also volunteered at the Christian Food Pantry.
Teresa owned and operated Kids Haven Daycare until she retired in 2008.
Whether in church, at home or in quiet moments of prayer, she sought to live out the words of the Holy Bible: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Teresa was known for her steady faith, generosity and for having a servant’s heart. Those who knew her remember her giving heart. She’d always meet you with a smile and had unwavering devotion to her family.
Teresa is survived by her loving husband Jerel; children, Jeff Thompson and Tina Howard; grandchildren, Brad Howard, Alexis Thompson and Trista Alexander; and great-grandchildren, Finleigh, Nova and Ben Paige.
We rejoice knowing that Teresa has entered into the fullness of joy in the presence of the Savior.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Prathersville Bible Church, located at 25406 County Fair Circle. A luncheon will be provided for the family beforehand.
