Trial reset for fifth time in sex, child abuse case
After nearly four years and five previous trial settings, an Excelsior Springs woman facing nine felony charges tied to alleged sexual abuse is once again scheduled to stand trial.Desiree A. Alexander, 39, was charged with nine felonies and one misdemeanor in 2022. These charges include three counts of first-degree rape or attempted rape, two counts of abuse or neglect of a child, first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy, incest, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree attempted sexual abuse and misdemeanor first-degree sexual misconduct.Alexander recently appeared in Ray County Court before 43rd Judicial Circuit Court Judge J. Bartley Spear Jr., where a new four-day jury trial was scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 14.The new setting follows the cancellation of a jury trial scheduled to begin on March 23.
