Council moves forward with $1 million sewer rehabilitation project
A more than $1 million sewer rehabilitation project aimed at improving Excelsior Springs’ aging underground infrastructure is moving forward after city council members approved a construction agreement.Council members recently unanimously approved a resolution awarding the sewer rehabilitation project bid to Visu-Sewer of Missouri LLC after city staff and consulting engineers identified the company as the apparent low bidder among five submitted proposals.The project will be funded through a 75% Army Corps of Engineers grant and 25% city capital improvement matching funds.Public Works Director Chad Birdsong told council members the city solicited bids for the project through a 30day posting period from April 5 through May 5, after which the city reviewed submissions with consulting engineers from McClure Engineering.“We advertised and solicited bids from general contractors through Drexel for the rehabilitation part of our sewer syste...
