Judy Boyer of Excelsior Springs passed unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 12. She was 82.
Judith Ann McManigal was born Dec. 20,1942, to Donald and Lucille McManigal. She spent her early years in Sierra Madre, Calif., before the family moved in 1950 to Missouri.
She graduated in 1960 from Central High School and later attended Graceland College, graduating in 1963.
She worked as a secretary for several companies, including Vendo and Farmland Industries.
Judy married Melvan Laurence Boyer on Aug. 19, 1967. They were married for more than 51 years before Mel’s passing in 2019.
She was a lifelong member of the RLDS church, and later the Church of Jesus Christ. She had attended the Washington Restoration Branch in Excelsior Springs since 1992.
A woman of great faith, Judy served her Lord and church families in countless capacities over the decades. She also was a gifted artist who used her talents in many ways, often in the service of others.
Judy is survived by her children, Stephanie (Paul) Ousley and Jeff (Paula) Boyer. She also leaves behind her sisters, Lois Carlberg and Gloria McManigal; grandchildren, Cannon and Kai Ousley, and Halli and Parker Boyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a future time in Excelsior Springs. Her legacy website through Bross & Spidle will be updated with details once plans are finalized.
