RALPH “SKIP” HOCKMAN, JR.
Ralph Saum Hockman Jr., known to most as “Skip,” was born June 3, 1948, in Bethesda, Md., to Winifred Kitty Skeates Hockman and Ralph Saum Hockman Sr. Skip died peacefully after a 22-month battle with glioblastoma cancer on April 11, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen Hockman; and children, Jestin Keel (David Jr.), Edythe Logston (Caleb), Jonathan Hockman (Rosangela) and Emily Magruder (Bobby). He also was blessed with many grandchildren: David Keel III, Jonathan Keel, Joshua Keel (Hailey), Daniel Keel (Becka) and Audrey Keel; Cadie Logston, Alayna Logston, William Logston and Mathew Logston; Lia Hockman and Penelope Hockman; Kourtney Arnold, Andrew Magruder, Haydyn Campbell and Bobbianne Magruder.
Skip also is survived by his brothers, John “Jack” Hockman (Elaine) and Gary Hockman (Debbie); inlaws, David D’Amore (Joyce), Roberta Mark and Rebecca Walters; and many nephews, nieces, greatnephews and great-nieces.
A visitation and memorial service will be held Saturday, May 18, at Liberty Christian Fellowship, 1815 S. Liberty Drive, with the visitation starting at 11 a.m. and services starting at noon.
