Biermann, Kennedy, Overholtzer heading to state
Excelsior Springs is sending three boys golfers to state competition.Landon Biermann and Tayvion Kennedy, who’ll graduate Friday; and sophomore Lane Overholtzer are slated to compete in the Class 3 state tournament May 19-20 at Twin Hill Golf Course in Joplin. They each secured their spots at state at the Class 3 District 4 Tournament May 7 at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond. The top two teams and top 14 individuals not on those teams advanced.Initially, the top 13 individuals not on the two qualifying teams were to advance. Because of a tie for the final spot, however, District 4 was allowed to send a 14th golfer, per Missouri State High School Activities Association regulations.Biermann was Excelsior Springs’ top qualifier – and nearly the individual district champion.
