Marques Shouse outran the competition at the Nick Sloop Invitational.Shouse, a first-year high schooler at Excelsior Springs, won the boys 100-meter dash at the April 28 track and field meet at Lawson, finishing in 12.03 seconds. With the victory, he helped the Excelsior Springs boys finish second in the team standings with 100 points (Lawson swept the boys and girls titles).The Excelsior Springs boys won three events en route to finishing as runners-up. Senior Kolin Kincaid won the long jump by leaping 6.6 meters. The Tigers also got a win from their 800 relay team.Shouse, Kincaid and the 800 relay team were among 16 top-four Excelsior Springs boys finishers. That group included Cooper Bishop, Liam Hedding and Easton Ryan, all of whom placed second.Bishop threw 12.35 to take second in the shot put. Hedding was runner-up in the 3,200.
